Then and Now: Anchor Babies

1993 - No Sane country would allow "Anchor Babies"

Reinforcing radical behaviors they fear

Freedom of religion is not the same as freedom to build. Some politicians see the “Right to bear arms” as not the same as the right to own a handgun, if they did, laws banning handguns in Chicago and Washington D.C. would have never passed in the first place. Even the President, last Friday, indicated he has some understanding of the difference when he said,” I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country. And that includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in Lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances.

One of the issues any organization must look into and decide is whether what they are bringing to a neighborhood is a good fit to that area. Bars near schools, strip clubs by churches are just among a few organizations that don’t fit. The question the backers of this Muslim center should have asked themselves, does this fit with the area or the history of the area? If they answer yes, they either are oblivious to appropriate behavior, of which they now have been schooled, or they want to be a thorn in the side of this community.

Our reaction tells them our state of mind. In one camp, they don’t see a problem with this center because theses specific people didn’t actually attack us. However, who are these people? The imam of the new mosque (Feisal Abdul Rauf) is a signer and supporter of the Perdana Global Peace Organization. That group helped develop the flotilla that is taking weapons to the Gaza Strip and attacked Israeli soldiers who boarded their ship to search for weapons.

Rauf also said in late September 2001, "I wouldn’t say that the United States deserved what happened. But the United States’ policies were an accessory to the crime that happened." I would like to point out it was not a crime, but an act of war. Al-Qaeda is defined by the D.O.D. as “A radical Sunni Muslim umbrella organization established to recruit young Muslims into the Afghani Mujahideen and is aimed to establish Islamist states throughout the world, overthrow ‘un-Islamic regimes’ expel US soldiers and Western influence from the Gulf, and capture Jerusalem as a Muslim city.”.

The other camp confirms the Muslim’s right to practice their religion but don’t necessarily have the right to build a mosque right there. That no major Muslim group has ever condemned the acts of terrorism by Al-Qaeda or support for the right of Israel to exist.

But the city of New York has approved the plans, plans that we don’t know where the money is coming from, but approved anyway. I just wonder which union guy will be the first to lay the foundation for the center or which vendor will bid for the steel or windows or any other part of the building.

The left often use their heart instead of their head to make decisions on what they support, in this case they magically support religion, the constitution and Zoning laws, to support a religion they laugh at in private (as they laugh at all religions) for what reason? If I would have to guess, I’d say they are more scared of Muslims, radical or not, then they are of the rest of us. They are scared because they know that despite everything we say, we follow the same rules of pleasant society that they do. Radical religious types don’t and might just start killing them like the descendent of Van Gough, the irony is that this show of weakness will only reinforce those radical behaviors they fear.

Does anything else really need to be said...

Unfortunatly it does. At one time a governmet job was one that paid "okay" but was hard to get fired from. Today, the unions have not only made them a high paying job but still hard to get fired from.

Cuts to welfare, teachers pay, fireman and policeman. Whenever there is a budget problem the administrators of any government or business do one thing, cut things other then their own pay. In the state of Iowa, the bachalor degree will earn you 23% higher government paying job then in the private sector, by simply reducing that wage to the private sector average we could save 545 million dollars. That would be 9% right there. The numbers I used are from the early 2000's so the actual savings might be higher.

Thank you AFSCME for our childrens debt.

Thank you bad government for paying them too much.

There are about 60000 state employees, 18400 in the executive branch and I est. about 39000 have those degrees.

Welcome to frak'ed up diplomacy

So the Imam of the new mosque being built in New York (Feisal Abdul Rauf) is going to be sent by the U.S. State department (paid by you) to the middle east on a “peace” mission. A peace mission to an area recently heated up by a flotilla that wouldn’t allow Israeli soldiers to inspect one ship for weapons heading for the Gaza Strip.

This flotilla is being supported by the Perdana Global Peace Organization headed by Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad (Former prime minister of Malaysia). Organization whose goal is to stop western globalization has on its mission statement signatures of supports and one is none other than Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf! (click the about tab)

Just to summarize: A group is forcing a conflict with Israel over the Gaza Strip and we are sending a supporter of that group, one our dime, to the middle east to talk about bring peace to the middle east.

  1. The State Departments confirmation:
QUESTION: P.J., there’s a report in Forbes that Feisal Abdul Rauf, the imam of the so-called Ground Zero Mosque is going on a trip to the Middle East. It’s basically to bring peace – moderation, and peace, and understanding to the region. And the claim by his people is that it’s a U.S. Government-supported trip. Do you know or rather is the U.S. Government supporting this trip? And would there be any problem with that in light of the – that this could be used as a fundraising – also simultaneously for fundraising for a controversial project?
MR. CROWLEY: He is a distinguished Muslim cleric. We do have a program whereby through our Educational and Cultural Affairs Bureau here at the State Department, we send people from Muslim communities here in this country around the world to help people overseas understand our society and the role of religion within our society. I think we are in the process of arranging for him to travel as part of this program. And it is to foster a greater understanding and outreach around the world among Muslim majority communities. But there are strict procedures as to the kind of activity that occurs during the course of this travel. I think this is exactly what we’ve presented it as. And we’ve done this many, many times with many leading figures since – over the past few years.
QUESTION: And is it just him and can you give me any guidance to the itinerary or the cost?
MR. CROWLEY: I think the itinerary is still being worked. And he is by no means the only Muslim religious figure in this country to participate in the program.
QUESTION: And how about just that last point about whether – there’s been reports in some Arabic language media that he plans to fundraise for the Islamic center and mosque overseas. Might he be –
MR. CROWLEY: Again, I will double check. But that would not be something he could do as part of our program.

Dear Mr. President, I have faith in America

I read a quote of yours the other day in the New York Times, “I wish they could see the pride you take in building these great cars, American-made cars. And my message to them is: Don’t bet against the American worker; don’t lose faith in the American people; don’t lose faith in American industry. We are coming back.” The lack of faith Mr. President is not in the critics of bailing out American industries like the auto or the banking, but in your lack of faith that we as a people, an economy could survive without government wisdom and money.

If General Motors had been allowed to fail, the price to take it over would have either come as a purchase of the business and equipments or an increase in production of other manufacturers automobile products. Ford, Inc. is a wonderful example in a business that did not take the risks, avoided collapse and did not take federal bailout money and is not showing real profits and not propped up profits from a non refundable 25 billion dollar bailout like G.M.

The American worker is the most productive worker in the world and will in the long run work its way back to a strong economy. What has happened in this America, one were a 700 billion dollar bailout of banks and Wallstreet business and another 800 billion “stimulus” plan that has only been marginally distributed is another house of cards just like the previous one built on the housing industry. It too will soon collapse and at some point it must collapse to have a true restart and a true foundation to build an economy that is the real come back.

A President in Iowa? Don't know.

I remember seeing a news release that President Bill Clinton was coming to Iowa to fund raise for our 3rd District representative Leonard Boswell. Then the news just ended. Last report was that on July 25th the 42nd President of the United States was going to be in Warren County for a fundraising event for the Congressman. I searched the Des Moines Register website for any news on that event. I only found that it was going to happen. I went to the Boswell for Congress website and found nothing! I even looked at the Congressman’s own website for the House of Representatives and nothing.

I e-mailed the Congressman’s campaign and got a reply that had an attached flier. It was being held at an individual’s home. Fair enough but surely a congressman would play up the fact that a President was campaigning for him and would get every piece of free publicity he could get. Yet nothing was reported. Even today I searched the Des Moines Register for an “after action” report on the event and no news. I don’t know if the event occurred as was told to us. The only report was a July 23rd blog by the Des Moines Register and it was short and only reported to be, “The event is closed to the public and the press.”
